Binational Race Packet Pickup

We’ve partnered with Road Runner Sports to assist participants living in the northern part of San Diego.

Race Packet Pickup will be at Road Runner Sports.

  • Location: Road Runner Sports, 5553 Copley Dr, San Diego, CA 92111, USA
  • Date: September 13, 2024
  • Pickup Hours: 
    • Friday, September 13 from 3 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

All participants must attend the Expo before the race to pick up their race packets, which include their bib number, chip and t-shirt.

Our expo is free and open to the public and features the presence of local exhibitors and vendors.

If you’re unable to attend either of the two days, you may have someone pick up your items on your behalf. The representative must present either a photo or paper copy of your ID.

SDTJ Passport is a Tijuana shuttle company specializing in passenger service between Tijuana and San Ysidro.

Transportation 10k registrants coming from the USA 

For our 10K registrants coming from the USA side, we will provide Free transportation from Las Americas Premium Outlets to the 10k start line.

​Buses will pick you up at Las Americas Premium Outlets, cross you over, and take you straight to the start line.

There are two pickup times available: 6:00 am and 6:15 am.

ID & Documentation

FOR MEXICANS PARTICIPANTS: To enter the USA and begin the first leg of the historic half marathon, it is necessary to cross the border with the appropriate immigration documents, as customary.

FOR AMERICANS PARTICIPANTS: No documents are required to enter Mexico. However, upon completing the entire race and returning to the USA, it is crucial to bring your identity documentation to enter or re-enter the USA.

In both cases, it is advisable to keep official documents securely stored to prevent any inconveniences (ensuring protection against water damage and loss).

The Binational Race is neither part of nor belong to any immigration authority; each participant must return to the US with the usual documents. Each person is responsible for complying with their immigration status to enter the US.

Finish Line Festival

Time: 9am to 12pm

All events finish in Playas de Tijuana at Parque de la Amistad.

You will be rewarded with stunning ocean views and the refreshing sea breeze. Enjoy the sense of accomplishment as you take in the beautiful scenery and unwind after completing such a significant challenge. It’s the perfect way to relax, celebrate your achievement and reunite with loved ones.

Post-race festivities includes music and gastronomic offerings from local vendors.

Shuttles

Finish line to border

Departures: From finish line

Boarding: La Monumental Bullring parking lot west gate.

Time: The shuttle service will be available from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Place of arrival: SDTJ Passport point before the border for quick documentation check.

San Ysidro Border on the US side.

Shuttles will facilitate the return from the finish line to the border on the US side. 

This service is available for all participants, as well as their friends and family members. Note that both races finish at the same location.

All shuttle users must be ready to present the appropriate immigration documents, as is customary for crossing the border. 

The shuttle service is $25. Early online purchases are available at a special price online here. Shuttle tickets will be provided at Packet pick-up.

On Race Day, you will be available to purchase shuttle tickets at the finish line.

Once the shuttles drop passengers off at the border, you will need to go through customs. After completing customs, the exit will be on the PedEast.

Take the pedestrian bridge across the freeway to Las Americas Premium Outlets will be a 5-8 minute walk to the west.

The journey to the first-ever Binational Race was as challenging as it was exhilarating. Spearheaded by a diverse group of local runners from San Diego and Tijuana, this idea blossomed into a reality through sheer determination and collaboration across borders.

With the support of both communities, and pivotal meetings with city officials including a notable 45-minute session in San Diego that concluded with enthusiastic endorsements, what started as a dream quickly gained momentum. In Tijuana, the enthusiasm was mirrored, with local leaders and organizations jumping onboard to ensure the race could showcase the best of both cities.

Now, this race stands as a powerful symbol of what can be achieved when we unite for a common goal. It’s not just about running; it’s about erasing borders with every step, fostering understanding, and celebrating our shared human spirit. Whether you need to cross from Mexico to the United States to be at Binational Race starting line, or whether after finishing the race in Mexico you plan to return to the United States, you must present the usual immigration documents to enter the United States according to your nationality or immigration status. 

It is advisable to keep official documents securely stored to prevent any inconveniences (ensuring protection against water damage and loss). 

The 10k starts and finishes in Tijuana, Mexico. If you are Mexican and reside in Mexico, you do not need any immigration documents to participate in the 10k. If you are a US citizen or reside in the United States, you must present the usual immigration documents to cross into Mexico, participate in the race, and once you have completed the race, return to the United States.

No, upon crossing the border and entering to Mexico as a participant in the Binational Race half marathon authorities will allow the entrance to the runners. Yes, we provide shuttle services from the finish line back to San Diego. Shuttle tickets are available for purchase during the registration process. For registered runner, you may purchase your shuttle tickets here. 

The time limit to complete the Binational Race half marathon will be 3 hours and 30 minutes. 

You must complete the first 10k of the half marathon within 1 hour and 30 minutes due to border crossing issues. 

The time limit to complete the Binational Race 10k will be 1 hour and 30 minutes.
